Me:
Being a graphic and web designer for more than four years, my digital art and graphic design experience is mainly in the commercial and promotional industry. It was not until I began to venture into creating with no direction, purpose, or restriction that I started to venture into the world of digital art and create works like the ones you see here. Since then, I have being able to freely create without having fear of uncontrolled ideas or psychological restrictions, starting most pieces with the least amount of conscious decision making.
I am heavily into music from varying genres, never really sticking to one genre or concept. Music inspires my work by not just the audio itself, but in the way it is sporadically created, specially with music created with a computer (at many times created in an almost "anything goes" fashion).
The work:
Pixelation, artifacts, and visual noise, these are all concepts which are generally considered as undesirable and condemned by the design and art world. However, I choose to make use of these concepts, as oppose to avoiding them, to create wonderful effects and visually appealing compositions. The images and textures used in my work come from magazines, old family photos and books, National Geographics, and the internet. I tend to use imagery from non-occidental cultures, animals, and classical art, as they become increasingly aesthetically pleasing the more I learn about them. To me they combine beautifully with over saturated colors, pixelation, artifacts, and visual noise. When composed together, these elements create beautiful worlds of magic realism enveloped in geometric elegance. The process of creating each piece is like completing a puzzle, with its pieces being any possible visual element around me.

"Guillermo creates vibrant compositions that blend abstract and concrete textures. His excellent use of symmetry and color helps meld together a wide array of images into a cohesive piece that captures the spirit of our times. His works are masterful amalgamations of contemporary and culturally-influenced ideas." -Jordan S.
"Guillermo's art is more suited for the outlandish. His works represent experiences best seen through his use of intense colors, people, and creatures, combined into a single working collage. Some of his works include using African tribes, another where an anthropomorphic being takes center stage, among others -- all which represent a topic in their unique way." -Angel Montalvo
